What happens with recycled copper?

Ever wondered what happens to the scrap metals you deliver to a scrap dealer? Where it goes and what purpose copper scrap is used for? et us discuss the process of copper recycling in Dubai.

1. Inspection and sorting

Scrap copper is collected from various scrap dealers and delivered to a processing plant where it is processed into different grades, compositions and purity levels using automated machinery, testing equipment and quality control procedure. Rejected materials are returned back to the supplier, discarded in an environmental friendly manner or sent to other designated recycling plants.

2. Melting

Based on the Copper grade, it is melted and refined to achieve a higher quality of purity. Sometimes,  primary copper is added to enhance its quality or become suitable for certain industries.

3. Electrolytic Refinement

Electroplating of copper after dissolving it in a sulfuric acid bath ensures 99.98% purity of copper. This recovered pure copper can then be put to different uses.

4. Reintroduction into the market

The copper thus recycled can be used in electronics, plumbing and building construction, wiring in automobiles, etc. Copper, due to being biostatic, is useful in places with antimicrobial needs. Hospitals, fish farms, labs, etc, are increasingly using copper to keep microbes at bay.

Recycled copper may have minor impurities, but it is just as useful as primary copper, making copper recycling an important activity to be undertaken.

But not before getting a good price for its copper content. You will even find many plumbing pipes containing significant copper.  So whenever you feel they’re as good as nothing, remember to get some moolah out of the good old Copper scrap in Qatar.

Aluminum- Aluminum is found in materials like roofs, windowpanes, doorknobs, fridge, bulbs (yeah, you often forget this one, just throwing away the bulbs!), and door knobs (This one too!). You will also find lots of aluminum in building and construction fields.

Stainless Steel- This is another metal that is easily found is 100% recyclable. You’ll find this metal a part of many industrial armaments like cars, bridges, and buildings. Since it exists in abundance, small amounts of this metal scrap won’t get you much money. Steel is also easily traceable in items like washers, dryers, kitchen appliances, tables, lamps, cutlery, trash bins, swivel bins, and other office and home furniture.

How To Sell Copper scrap in Qatar?

Metal scrap recycling and selling is beneficial in two ways. One, you get good money. Second, you save environmental degradation as you know metals when thrown away degrade and pollute the soil. Therefore metal scrap recycling is a way to prevent environmental degradation. This article will tell you how to get the maximum value for your solid copper metal scrap.

Now to get the maximum value from your solid copper scrap it is important to sort different types of copper. In that process, it is important to realize the 5 different kinds of copper to get an appropriate price for each category.

The 5 different kinds of copper are as follows-

  • Copper solids- They are the most valuable type of copper. Copper solids further break down into 3 categories depending on the purity of copper element present in the object.
  • Copper non solids- These include dust and trimmings.
  • Copper wire- They are the electronic wires.
  • Copper breakage- This is a type of copper obtained from objects like motors and transformers.
  • Copper alloy- Alloys are mixed with other metals like brass and bronze.

This will ensure that you don’t stack all copper scrap as one pile thus giving you the least overall price. Every kind of copper demands a different price- an important point to note when you sell copper metal scrap.
